A fabulous destination to visit in late Autumn is Kyoto, Japan. Each year between mid-November and early December, Kyoto’s Autumn foliage attracts visitors from around the world as the Japanese maple trees are set ablaze.

It’s difficult to narrow down the best places to see Autumn foliage in Kyoto because most of the region becomes illuminated. However, if you are short on time, choose the Bishamondo Temple near JR Yamashina Station which is one of the most iconic fall scenes. The small red temple is surrounded by deep vibrant red foliage and is very picturesque.

If you have some time to explore, go visit the Arashiyama district of Kyoto. Autumn colors blanket the forested mountains and the lovely Arashiyama Temple grounds. Try taking a boat ride or a ride on the trolley train to see the area from different perspectives.

Some other wonderful temples to visit in the Autumn include Jojakkoji, Gioji, Tenryuji and Nisonin where you will see a wide range of red, orange, and yellow foliage on full display. If possible, plan to stay the night in the area and save your visit to the Tenryuji Temple for evening when the Shiskiku Garden and all its splendor becomes illuminated under the night sky.

One thing’s for sure though, no matter where you decide to see Kyoto’s Autumn foliage, you’ll be in awe of the beauty surrounding you.

To Exciting Travels!
